Article I: Name and Purpose

Name:

The official name of this organization shall be the Vespa Zitas Scooter Club.

Purpose:

The Vespa Zitas Scooter Club exists to celebrate the timeless elegance and adventurous spirit of scooters. Our mission is to foster inclusiveness, promote environmental sustainability, and create lasting friendships within the scooter community.


Article II: Membership

Eligibility:

Membership is open to all scooter enthusiasts, regardless of brand or model. There is no requirement to own a specific scooter brand; it’s about the people, not just the vehicles.

Joining Process:

  1. Joining Vespa Zitas Scooter Club:

    • Prospective members can join by filling out the membership form and requesting to join the club’s Facebook group.
    • Once confirmed, they can engage, participate in events, and start making memories!
    • Membership is free.
  2. Event Insurance:

    • Members benefit from Vespa Zitas event insurance during organized rides and club events.
    • Note: Specific requirements may apply for certain events (e.g., Italian Parade).
  3. Additional Membership Perks:

    • Members receive discounted scooter storage fees ($30/month for 6 months, totaling $270).
    • Storage includes oil change support, winter battery charging, and gas stabilizer (member purchases oil and stabilizer).
    • Assistance with loading/unloading scooters during travel and towing options for Vespa Zitas events.

Article III: Meetings and Governance

Meetings:

The club shall hold regular meetings (e.g., monthly) to discuss club matters, plan events, and connect. Decisions shall be made by a majority vote of attending members.

Board of Directors:

The board shall consist of elected officers:

  • President: Leads the club, presides over meetings, and represents Vespa Zitas externally.
  • Vice President: Supports the president and oversees specific committees or projects.
  • Treasurer: Manages finances, maintains records, and prepares budgets.
  • Secretary: Records meeting minutes and handles correspondence. Additional officers may be elected based on club needs. Duties of each board member once appointed will be established and adhered to.

Article IV: Financial Matters

Spending and Sustainability:

The club shall spend funds within the community to promote inclusivity, environmental awareness, and scooter culture. Financial management guidelines shall be set at $1500 per year spent promoting the scooter culture with agreement between President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The club shall seek out sponsorship from businesses and organizations that align with the club mandate of inclusion, sustainability, and scooter culture.


Article V: Inclusiveness and Collaboration

Inclusivity:

Vespa Zitas embraces diversity and welcomes all riders. We attend rallies, rides, and socialize with fellow scooter enthusiasts.

Environmental Stewardship:

We promote eco-friendly practices and advocate for sustainable transportation.


Article VI: Amendments

Amendments to the Constitution:

The constitution can be amended by a vote of the membership. A clear process for proposing and approving amendments shall be followed as follows:

  1. A club member proposes an amendment, citing reasons for the change.
  2. The club President, Vice President, and Treasurer review and agree on the proposed amendment.
  3. Once agreed upon, the amendment is communicated to the entire Board.
  4. Two board members must then approve the amendment through a vote.

    Membership Criteria

    1. Inclusive Membership:
      • Prospective members do not need to own a scooter or adhere to a specific brand. Inclusivity is our primary philosophy.
      • All genders and ages are welcome, but voting on proposed changes or club focus is limited to members aged 18 and older.
      • Regardless of age, all members’ opinions are valid and will be considered.

    Meetings and Quorum

    1. Informal Meetings:
      • Meeting decorum shall be informal, fostering open dialogue and camaraderie.
      • Summaries of decisions, along with proposers and seconders, will be posted for transparency.

    Board Elections

    1. Leadership Selection:
      • The club owners will select leadership.
      • The President and Vice President will actively engage with members, implementing requested changes and focusing on club priorities.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    1. General Roles:
      • President: Leads the club, represents Vespa Zitas externally, and guides overall direction.
      • Vice President: Supports the President and oversees committees or projects.
      • Treasurer: Manages finances, maintains records, and prepares budgets.
      • Secretary: Records minutes and handles correspondence.
      • Additional roles may be defined based on club needs.
      • All members must at all times put the scooter community needs and club objectives of inclusion above all else.
      • No member shall engage in any sort of "twitter war" or make any type of rude or inappropriate or insensitive comment in response no matter how rude or disrespectful non members may be in their comments on social media.
    1. Financial Management

      1. Costs and Sponsorship:
        • Club leadership will cover costs related to fulfilling the club’s mandate.
        • Members are encouraged to support the club by attending events, rallies and parades and purchasing items sold which revenue will be used to finance the club. 
        • Seek sponsorships from businesses aligned with our philosophy.

      Photography and Promotion

      1. Photo Usage:
        • Any photos featuring Vespa Zitas Scooter Club members, owners, or board posted on Facebook or the internet are part of our club story.
        • Assume community support for our inclusive and supportive scooter lifestyle.
        • A photo alongside a Vespa Zita doesn’t imply membership.
        • Requests to remove photos will be considered, but publicly shared images fall within the public domain.

      Environmental Commitment

      1. Eco-Conscious Behavior:
        • Encourage environmentally friendly practices by riding scooters.
        • Promote the scooter brand and lifestyle through our actions.
        • Pick up litter left behind at an event.
